EFFECTS OF COMPUTER SIMULATION MODEL ON SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ COMPREHENSION OF THE COARSE NATURE OF MATTER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study looked into the effects of computer simulation model on secondary school students’ comprehension of the coarse nature of matter. The study was led by five research questions and five hypotheses. The study used a quasi-experimental pre-test, post-test control group design. For this study, the population consisted of forty-two thousand, eight hundred and eight students. The sample for this study consisted of 236 students from SS II. Using a straightforward random sampling procedure, the sampled schools were chosen. The instruments used for data collection were the Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT) and the Scholastic Ability Test in Chemistry (SATIC). Using Kuder Richardson formula 21, CAT has a dependability coefficient value of 0.77. Mean, standard deviation, t-test, and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data (ANOVA). The study's findings revealed that: male and female students who were taught chemistry using computer simulation models performed similarly; there was no significant difference in their performance; and there was a significant difference between the mean retention scores of students who were taught chemistry using computer simulation models and those who were taught using lecture method, in their favor. The study also discovered that technique, sex, and aptitude interactions had no discernible impact on students' memory of chemistry. The study suggests that secondary school chemistry teachers adopt the usage of computer simulation models to encourage students' active participation and interaction with chemical concepts..

FACULTY INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP THROUGH QUADRANT INTELLIGENCE (QI) MODEL FOR TEACHER EDUCATION CONTENT VALIDITY IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN RIVERS STATE.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study investigated faculty instructional leadership through quadrant intelligence (QI) model for teacher education content validity in public universities in Rivers State. The study was guided by three research questions and three corresponding null hypotheses. A descriptive survey design was adopted in the study, and the population of the study consisted of 2985 lecturers from the three public universities in Rivers state. The sample for this study was 746 respondents; the respondents were stratified into male and female academic staff of the three universities in Rivers State. The instruments used for data collection of data for this study was design by the researcher titled ‘Faculty Instructional Leadership Through Quadrant Intelligence (QI) Model for Teacher Education Content Validity Questionnaire” (FILQITECVQ) The reliability of the instrument was ascertained using Cronbach Alpha method. The reliability index yielded a result of = 0.87, 0.78 and 0.77 respectively which showed that the responses were consistent and the instrument considered reliable and adopted for the study. Mean and Standard Deviation Statistics was used to answer the research questions while t-test inferential statistics was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study found that the use of curriculum improves teacher education content validation through the QI model in public universities in Rivers State. It concluded that the findings underscore the effectiveness of integrating the QI Model into curriculum design and pedagogical practices, enhancing content validation and aligning with the diverse needs of teacher education. It was recommended among others that public universities in Rivers State should establish interdisciplinary curriculum development teams comprising faculty members, curriculum specialists, and educational policymakers to ensure the integration of QI Model principles into teacher education curricula

THE NAIRA NOTE REDESIGN AND FOOD SECURITY AMONG PUBLIC UNIVERSITY LECTURERS IN RIVERS STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The paper focused the naira note redesign and food security among public university lecturers in Rivers State. Two objectives, two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted a correlational and survey design. The population of this study comprised of all the university lecturers in Rivers state. The number of university lecturers in UNIPORT, RUST and IAUE are 1387, 571 and 424 respectively which is a total of 2382. Simple random sampling technique was adopted for this study with a sample size of three hundred and seventy eight (378) respondents obtained which is 5% of the entire population. The simple random technique was adopted so that every lecturer is given equal chance of being included in the sample. The questionnaire was developed by the researcher called Effect of the Redesign Naira Note on Food Security Questionnaire (ERNNFSQ). Cronbach Alpha coefficient was adopted as a measure of internal consistency for this study. And a reliability of .888 was gotten using the SPSS (version 25) computer application. A total of 378 copies of the questionnaire were administered to all the lecturers, out of the 378 copies of questionnaires administered; 340 copies representing 90 percent of the total sample were returned. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions, while Pearson’s Product moment correlation coefficient was used for the analysis of hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. This paper concluded that the results from the two variables (mitigation of counterfeit and reduction in the level of cash insecurity) equally show that the effect of the redesign naira note influences food security among university lecturers in Rivers State. It was recommended among others that government should ensure adequate palliatives are provided to cushion the effect of naira redesign policy on the masses especially lecturers in public universities in Rivers state.

Public and Private Collaborative Education Funding: A Necessity for Sustainable University Education in South-South Nigeria
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examined public-private collaborative education funding: A necessity for sustainable university education in South-South Nigeria. The study design was descriptive, the population was 2000 heads of institutions, deans and heads of departments in public universities in south-south Nigeria and the sample consists of 220 respondents representing 11% of the population. A 20-item self -structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The instrument was duly validated by experts and 0.84 reliability index was established using Cronbach alpha. A criterion mean of 2.50 was use as a cut-off mark while mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. A t- test inferential statistics was used to test all null hypotheses at 0.05 level significance. Statistical analysis was done using the statistical package for social science, SPSS version 23. Findings of the study revealed that the respondents agreed that international bodies, donor agencies etc are entities for public-private collaborative funding while increase funding, improved infrastructure, learning processes etc are the impacts of public-private collaborative funding, and the challenges of public-private collaborative fundings includes; lack of fund, lack of accountability, resource imbalance etc. The study recommended among others that government and heads of higher institutions should identify corporate individuals and organizations who are willing to participate in public-private collaborative funding and that synergy between public and private entities should be encouraged in our university system so that the short-falls experienced by higher institutions as a results government not meeting up to expectations due to intense demands of the educational sector can be reduced.
