ADMINISTRATORS’ DECISION-MAKING STYLES FOR EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN RIVERS STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated Administrators’ Decision-Making Styles for Effective Administration of Public Senior Secondary Schools in Rivers State. Four research questions and four hypotheses were used for the study. The correlational research design was used for this study. The population of the study consisted of all the 6, 893 teachers in the 286 Public Senior Secondary Schools in Rivers State. The sample of this study comprised 900 teachers in 20 public senior secondary schools in Rivers State, representing 13 percent of the total population of the study. The stratified random sampling technique was used for the study. The questionnaire instrument titled: “Administrators’ Decision Making Styles and Effective School Administration Questionnaire” (ADMSESAQ) was used for the study. The questionnaires were divided into two sections: section A was for collection of demographic data while section B contained 12 items addressing the research questions. Furthermore, the coefficients index value obtained was 0.84 and therefore the reliability of the instrument was established. Data gathered from this study were collated and statistically analyzed. The statistical tool used for answering the research questions were Mean and Standard Deviation statistics while the null hypotheses were tested using regression analysis at 0.05 Alpha level of significance. The findings of this work revealed that delegative and collaborative decision-making influence effective administration of Public Senior Secondary Schools in Rivers State. The study concludes that decision-making an important aspect of school administration, hence, the principal should the principals must be fully involved in the process to ensure efficiency. Thus, the recommend that the principals should not only adopt delegative decision making style but also supervise them to ensure efficiency, and collaborative decision making style should be given a high place in the school administration.

REWARD MANAGEMENT FOR TEACHERS QUALITY SERVICE DELIVERY IN PUBLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN RIVERS STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated reward management for teacher’s quality service delivery in public senior secondary schools in Rivers State. Two research questions and two hypotheses were used for the study. A descriptive research design was used for this study. The population of the study consisted of all the 6,893 teachers in the 286 public secondary schools in the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. The sample of this study comprised 900 teachers that were drawn from 60 public senior secondary schools in Rivers State which represented (13%) of the entire population. The stratified random sampling technique was used for the study. The questionnaire instrument titled: “Reward management Strategies for teachers for quality service delivery Questionnaire” (RMSTQSDQ) was used for the study. Furthermore, the coefficients index value obtained was 0.87 and therefore the reliability of the instrument was established. The statistical tool used for answering the research questions were Mean and Standard Deviation statistics, while Z-test inferential statistical tool was used to test the formulated null hypotheses at 0.05 Alpha level of significance. The findings of this work revealed that promotion of teachers enhances quality service delivery in public senior secondary schools in Rivers State; this includes making teachers to be more committed in their service delivery and putting in more effort to achieve high service delivery. The study therefore, among others recommended that the recognition of teachers should be given a high place by the government and educational administrators in order to instill a high sense of belongingness upon them. Also, care should be taken by both the government and the society in providing various rewards packages for teachers, if they must put in their best. The study concluded that application of reward should be given a high priority in secondary school to enhance quality service delivery.

IMPACTS OF ONLINE LEARNING TOOLS ON TEACHERS TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This paper x-rayed impact of online learning tools on teachers teaching effectiveness in public secondary schools. Online learning involves a variety of approaches, such as making resources available electronically and creating rich, interactive online experiences with class activities using Web tools like chat and discussion groups. Online learning offer flexibility as they may not require learners to be at a specific location for class participation. Students may work with course materials at their own convenience, or they may work collaboratively with other students in a Web environment. The paper looked at and explored the impacts of digital library on teachers teaching effectiveness, impacts of zoom on teachers teaching effectiveness and impact of projectors on teachers teaching effectiveness. Also discussed in the paper are the challenges in utilizing online learning tools for teacher effectiveness, which includes; lack of effective training, lack of teachers competency and limited time. Online learning provides various opportunities for learners to interact with each other and with their teachers, such as live chats, discussion boards and group projects, which reduce feelings of isolation. The paper concluded that online learning tools are very paramount to facilitate effective teaching and learning. In what follows, it suggested that teachers should be trained on the use of online learning tools to enhance effective teaching processes.

THE CHALLENGES OF MANAGING TERTIARY EDUCATION IN NIGERIA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Education at the tertiary level is the highest level of education which is meant for learning, teaching, research, and manpower, organizational and national development. This paper explored the challenges of managing tertiary education in Nigeria. Historical development of tertiary education was stated. Some concepts that relate to tertiary education management were discussed. Such concepts as management, education, quality, quality education, among others were defined. Additionally, measures to be adopted for better management such as change and reform, innovation, ICT through globalization were discussed. More so, management of tertiary education in Nigeria was discussed; styles of management and quality assurance variables that ensure standard in the management of tertiary education were identified. Challenges that confront the management of tertiary education such as inadequate funding, brain –drain syndrome, strike actions, examination malpractice, poor leadership, lack of staff development, poor research, and others were explained. The consequences of tertiary education challenges were highlighted. However, remedies to the challenges were highlighted. Based on the foregoing, it was concluded that tertiary institutions should always generate revenue internally to enable them improve research outputs and other necessities. This study suggested that adequate funding from the government to the tertiary institutions shall be given top priority because it will go a long way in solving many other challenges that are challenging tertiary education in Nigeria.
